Path of Exile Item Upgrading

Item upgrading allows players to improve their weapons and equipment with new affixes that boost its base stats or providing additional benefits. To upgrade an item upgrader, the player needs to have it in their inventory, as well as access to the kiln.

Typically items that have weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a stronger base, while items with strong bases such as Eth titans don't change significantly in their stats after being upgraded.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be added to armors, weapons, trinkets, and gathering tools. They can be used as an attribute bonus, or extra effect, while the equipment is in use. They can be purchased from vendors, or found as loot gathered by enemies or gotten from chests and missions. Certain upgrades also have cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level before they are upgraded.

To upgrade an armor, weapon or other item in the game, players will have to select it and then click on the Upgrade button on the toolbar. This will show on the right-hand side of the screen a preview showing the expected upgrade stats as well as the components or materials required for the upgrade.

There are three kinds that are universal upgrades (which include gems) prefix upgrades and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, which are made up of gems, can be put in any kind of equipment, and offer lower bonuses than upgrade components that are type-restricted. Infusions, which can only be placed in gear that is ascended and legendary equipment are similar to jewels but provide larger bonuses and are not able to be placed in any other equipment. Suffix upgrades are able to be placed in gathering tools, add their names to the end of the name of the item they are connected to, for example adding an Glyph to an item that is a Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor would make it a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.

If a player upgrades a gathering tool, and replaces the glyphs with a different one the old one will be returned to their inventory. However replacing any other upgrade component will damage it, except for inscriptions which can be freely swapped.

Leveling

The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some significant variations from previous versions. Gear is now divided into tracks and items can be upgraded a certain number of times before they are "leveled out." The cost for upgrades is increased with each level however, the materials needed don't increase as much. This allows players to concentrate their efforts on a handful of key items and maximize their impact, rather than spreading out the upgrade costs across multiple items.

This will allow the item to receive upgraded components, and have a greater chance of success. This bonus is referred to as the Artisan's Energy, and it is reset to 0 after failure or increases if the upgrade succeeds.

After a piece has been upgraded to its highest level, it can receive affixes to boost its attributes. The number of affixes that are available will depend on the item's class. For instance, a rare or unique weapon that has a standard base will have no more than two affixes to choose from, whereas legendary armors will have up to eight affixes for it.

Each upgrade step will require an amount of Flightstones and crests based on the current level of the item and the item slot it's in. Weapons will typically require more Flightstones than other equipment.

If an Best item upgrader doesn't attain its maximum level, the NPC grants players the option to transfer it to a different character and then re-infuse it with a different set of upgrades. This process can take up to two hours and will cost the same amount of material but will have a lower chance of success.

To measure the height of a building engineers use an instrument to compare the measurement to an established reference point like a benchmark, or the ground's elevation. This is referred to as a "level-loop." This involves taking readings using the level, backsighting rod, and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method ensures that buildings are constructed to a high level of accuracy and safety.

Rerolling

Rerolling is the process of altering the upgrade components of an item. It is an important aspect of the game and can significantly improve an item's strength and damage as well as other characteristics. You can do this through the menu for items or by pressing the Reroll button every time you upgrade an item. Rerolling an item can be costly and should be done sparingly.

The game lets players recycle upgraded items, which are used to earn Reroll tokens. These tokens can then be used to upgrade the original item, or to upgrade another Best item upgrade of the same type. Recyclable items come with an indicator that indicates the degree of upgrade. The amount of level that has been filled depends on the rarity and upgrade cost of the item.

Prior to this, some upgrade items were given priority affixes, which made them easier for players to roll. This meant that you could receive the stats that mattered most to your build often than other. This included things like the armor's total armor, thorns and duration reduction stats that are controlled or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.

This has changed since the latest patch. Priority affixes were removed, and all upgrades have the same chance of rolling each statistic. This could be a positive or bad thing depending on your requirements and expectations from your equipment.

Each upgraded item could be equipped with a special fixed-value, fixed-value benefit that increases its strength by a certain percentage. These bonuses are added into the usual affixes. The more you upgrade a product, the higher your chances of receiving an exclusive bonus.

The game also features various sets which give a set bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are installed on a unit. This is a great method to add a lot of power to a particular character without spending a lot of money.

Many players opt to reroll their equipment and weapons, particularly in the early stages of the game. Rerolling can help you gain a stronger character faster, allowing you to advance in the game and achieve higher levels.

Sets

Another reason to upgrade certain items is to bring them up to the same level as their tiers. The Immortal King Set, for instance, comes with a wide range of levels, ranging from 29 to 75. Upgrading lower-level set items can increase their defense and make them more competitive in terms of damage.

Clicking the Upgrade button will show the attributes of the item and the items required to upgrade it. This will display the item's features, as well as the required items to upgrade it. To upgrade the No-mouth face for instance, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, along with 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Players can also check the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard.

Generally speaking, weapons and jewelry offer more value for trade when they are fully upgraded than armor. Upgrades to gold are recommended for weapons that have spells or glyphs that damage weapons. This will result in a significant increase in their stats. This will also boost the defense value of armor that has an updated look.
