The project is dubbed Space Key and created in collaboration with an unidentified artist and made up of an advanced carbon fiber composite material that was shipped to the International Space Station for research purposes.

The physical element of Space Key

The carbon fiber was 3D printed to create the base of each Space Key, which is linked with an exclusive, purely digital design using the QR code printed on the back of the Petron key to lamborghini. Only five Space Keys have been produced.

The digital artwork

Each of the five Space Keys will feature a distinct moment that happens seconds apart as the Lamborghini Ultimae lifts off toward the stars. Over 600 million pixels make up each of the five images, which were shot by photographer Fabian Oefner.

Oefner used a balloon equipped with a camera, which took each of the individual images, which were later merged into the final image.
